If we can think it, we can do it !A FORUM FOR INNOVATION - INSPIRED BY THE POETRY OF DESIGN.OUTREMONT K9 PARK Winter 1999... The "Dog Owners Association of Outremont" (Montreal) asked the City Hall if there is the possibility to transform a winter snow deposit zone into a park, where the dogs could run freely. City Hall embraced the idea and asked for an urban development plan. The deadline day was scheduled for the 15th of June, 1999 for the "Canine week of Outremont" when the "Dog Owners Association" had to make an educational campaign for Outremont residents.
A pocket book equiped with an extendable and explicit map, membership offers, medical advices, tips for puppies and adult dogs. The last page can be filled out as a membership application and may be returned by mail.
ADVERTISING: Some caricatured flyers attached on everything and everywhere ( cars, houses, trees, etc) to advertise: friendly and funny education...
There was a pump with no water circulation, but a simply hole in concrete, always filled with earth, and the dogs used to drink water from it... so we added a mobile system that allowed a proper cleaning.
We have modified the accessibility in the park with double doors and a safety zone, where the owner can verify the attach. If the dog runs for some reason, this space becomes a small buffer zone between the park and the street ( the walk way is so narrow ). You can see here the pump emplacement.
There are two entries for trucks ( garbage and maintenances ).
They needed a space to keep all the materials that they had to use, so we proposed two places of permanent advertising, to meet with people at anytime, even when raining or snowing...
The middle zone of this park was filled with sand... and has became a big "toilette"... we have replaced it with bumps earth and of course, with grass.
... And if you ever pass on Rockland bridge... ask your dog if it had chosen the Paradise yet !!!
An ingenious night time lights system...
View from Rockland bridge and the entry under the bridge... In the south area we have added a soundproof and windproof "pines wall". HEY !... The project is already in progress, so we invite you to take a look.
